Everyone is carrying one. The argument that ended on Tuesday and is still running. The reply that arrived ten minutes too late. The message typed out in full at 1am and then deleted a word at a time.

What this is

Reimagine is a role-play app for those conversations. You write the other person — their name, their relationship to you, how they talk, what they already hold against you — and then you have the conversation again, with them answering back.

There is no catalogue of characters to browse. Nobody else’s bots, no fandom names, no archetypes. The person you talk to does not exist until you make them, and nothing you make is shared with anyone.

And what it is not

It does not simulate how the real person would reply. It has never met them and has no way of knowing. That is why nothing here is described as practice or rehearsal — those words promise an accuracy this cannot deliver. What it gives you is your own side, answered by something you did not script.

It is also not therapy. It is entertainment, and if a conversation you are carrying is heavier than that, the honest recommendation is a person rather than an app.

The moments

• The line arrived on the stairs.The perfect reply turns up ten minutes late, on the way out, when it is no use to anyone. There is a name for it, a reason for it, and something you can do with it.
• You have had it nine times since Tuesday.The argument ended days ago and it is still running. Replaying is not the same as resolving — and the version in your head has a structural problem.
• It always goes the same way.Six sentences, in the same order, for fifteen years. Both of you know your lines. What happens if it goes differently this time?
• Nobody is contacted. Nothing is sent.It was not a fight. It was a reply you did not get round to, and then it had been four months, and then it was too late to be normal about it.
• You typed it. You deleted it.It sat in the box for a minute, fully written, and then you took it out word by word and put the phone down. It is still somewhere.
